Bobbie Lewis Jeffries, 91, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 11, 2025. She was born in Harnett County, North Carolina, the only child of the late Robert Barron Lewis and Josie Pearson Lewis.
Bobbie was hard-working, strong-willed, and fiercely independent. She graduated from Lafayette High School, where she was a ferocious and feared basketball player. She attended Campbell Junior College (now known as Campbell University), where she also played basketball. Bobbie earned a bachelor's degree in business management from Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia, and retired from respected careers with IBM and H&R Block. Throughout her working life, despite long work commutes and the challenge of achieving professional success as a woman in the business world, Bobbie never wavered in her commitment to provide for her family's financial and well-being.
In retirement, Bobbie traveled the U.S. and Europe before settling down on the Lewis family Century farm. There she hosted her children and their families for holiday gatherings, walks around the pond, fishing, and collecting pecans and fruit from the trees her parents and she planted decades earlier.
Bobbie enjoyed keeping up with her relatives, childhood, and lifelong friends in person and by phone. She was an avid supporter of local authors and artists, amassing an impressive collection of signed books, pottery, artwork, and sculptures from creative North Carolinians during her lifetime. She always loved reading. In her later years, she made her way through most of the women's fiction at the Harnett County Public Library. Bobbie was devoted to her faith and was a longtime member of Chalybeate Springs Baptist Church, where she served as a choir member, deacon, Sunday school teacher, and on many committees.
Bobbie's greatest joy was indeed her family. She is survived by her two children: Kent Jeffries (Janice Underwood) and Robin Mansfield (Lee); five grandchildren: Kathleen Adams (Trey), Baron Mansfield (Lauren), Anna Cummings (Jordan), Robert Jeffries, and Thomas Jeffries; and four great-grandchildren.
