Beverly "Dawn" Davies passed away May 29, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, strength, humor, and unwavering love.
For nearly 40 years, Dawn dedicated her life to caring for others through her work as a nurse - or, as many lovingly called her, "Boss Lady." She spent many years serving patients at Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro where she later retired, after beginning her nursing career at Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh. Nursing was far more than a profession to Dawn; it was a reflection of who she was at her core. She had a servant's heart and gave endlessly of herself to anyone in need, offering comfort, strength, and compassion to countless lives throughout the years.
When Dawn was not caring for others through her nursing career, she could often be found at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, faithfully serving wherever she was needed. Whether she was rocking babies in the nursery, handing out snacks during Vacation Bible School, attending Bible studies, working the concession stand, or chaperoning youth retreats, Dawn poured her heart into serving both her church and her community.
Dawn never met a stranger. She was a friend, a mentor, and a mother figure to countless people whose lives she touched. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Above all else, Dawn loved her family fiercely. She was the kind of mother and grandmother who made everyone feel safe, loved, and cared for - whether related by blood or simply by heart. To so many, she was lovingly known as "Mama Dawn." She treasured time spent with those she loved most and found joy in the simple moments together. Her family and friends will forever remember her quick wit, unmistakable sass, contagious laughter, and the incredible way she could make even the hardest days feel a little lighter.
Dawn leaves behind a family who adored her deeply, along with countless friends, coworkers, and loved ones whose lives were made better simply by knowing her. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, the love she gave so freely and the memories she created will continue to live on in all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
Dawn survived by her faithful husband just shy of 35 years, Philip Davies of Smyrna NC; son, Gareth Davies (Shayna) of Marshallberg NC; daughter, Megan Davies Winn (Aaron) of Gloucester NC; sister, Cindy Eason(Linwood) of Plainview NC; and brother, Ricky Warren of Angier NC. Of all the titles she carried throughout her life, her favorite was undoubtedly "Grammie" to her precious grandson, Howie Winn, who was truly the apple of her eye along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lydia Godwin Warren; her father, Lonnie Mack Warren; and numerous beloved aunts and uncles.
