She was preceded in death by her father, Junious Brohl Pleasant, her mother, Martha Lillian (Smith) Pleasant, her sister, Leta Gray "Tiny" Pleasant, and her brother, Leonard Lyndell Pleasant. She is survived by her only son, Robin William Vanderwall.
Known for her fiery spirit, Jean was notorious for her strong will and determination, never afraid to stand firm in her convictions. She dedicated many years to providing childcare in her own home, creating a safe and nurturing environment for countless children who thrived under her guidance.
Jean's love for her son was immeasurable-she sacrificed everything to ensure his happiness and success, always putting his well-being first. As a faithful sister, she remained a steadfast source of support and responsibility, demonstrating endless patience and devotion in caring for her beloved sister, Tiny.
Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and selflessness, and she leaves behind a life well-lived and deeply cherished by those who came to know and love her. She will be profoundly missed, but her memory will remain alive in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A service to celebrate Jean's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to causes that support caregivers and the mentally challenged, reflecting her lifelong commitment to those in need.
