Betty Wynn Parker

Betty Wynn Parker, 90, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, October 2, 2025. She passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side. She was born on April 4, 1935 in Orange County, North Carolina to the late Jesse Vance and Anna Slaughter Wynn.

The eldest of four, she spent her formative years in Mebane, North Carolina, graduating from Mebane High School in 1953 and worked her first job as a telephone operator in Burlington, North Carolina. She met her husband Billy Ray Parker at the North Carolina State Fair and they were married on December 27, 1953. She was a devoted wife to him until his death in 2005, and cherished his memory for the rest of her life.

Betty lived her adult life in Garner, North Carolina. She worked in the office of Winn-Dixie Warehouse on Wilmington Street until her retirement in 1994. She was a faithful member of Midway Baptist Church for 50+ years where she enjoyed singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, being a member of the Oasis group, and the many close friendships she made.

In her later years, she enjoyed travel with her church and friends. Especially notable trips she fondly reflected on including trips to Branson, Missouri, New England, and Hawaii. She also enjoyed many fishing trips with her husband and friends, as well as frequent summer beach trips with her family to the North Carolina coast, where many memories were made that will be carried with them forever. She enjoyed treating both granddaughters to trips to New York City to see the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade during their high school years. Her family was always at the center of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She will be remembered as a loving mother, a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, a dedicated sister, and for her unwavering faith and legacy of Christian love.

Left behind to treasure her memory include her daughter, Donna Parker Rogers, her son-in-law Timothy Rogers, her granddaughters Rachael Fuller (Zack) and Renee Rogers, her great-grandchildren, Audrey Fuller and Beau Fuller, her sister Dorothy Wade, and many other family and close, cherished friends.

Along with her parents and her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers, Bobby Wynn and Billy Wynn.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 1:00pm at Mid-Way Baptist Church, 6910 Fayetteville Road, Raleigh, NC 27603. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529.

The family would like to extend the warmest thanks and appreciation to the staff at Hillside Nursing in Wake Forest, North Carolina, who provided compassionate care to Betty during her last six months, as well as to the many caregivers and devoted friends who helped Donna look after Betty in her home in Garner prior to her move to Hillside Nursing.
