Betty Jean Howington Champion

Betty Jean Howington Champion, 76, died Sunday at William Dunlap Hospice Center.  She was a retired 35 year employee with Dorothea Dix Hospital.  Jean enjoyed cooking and also volunteering with Able to Serve. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Chapel, Garner. Surviving are her daughters, Kathy Lynn Hagwood and Teresa Diane Champion of Raleigh; sons Samuel Scott Champion of Zebulon, David Brian Champion of Willow Spring and Bobby Ray McLamb, Jr. of Angier; sister, Phyllis Hobgood of Cary; brothers, Bob Howington of Sanford and Jimmy Howington of Clayton; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm Wednesday prior to the service.
