Betty Hodges Hood

Betty Hodges Hood, 95, passed away on Sunday, June 14th, 2026, one day after her 95th birthday. Born June 13th, 1931, in Dunn, NC. She was the first born child to the late Lorman and Flonnie Hodges.

Betty married Edward Hood Sr in 1954 and had two children; Edward Jr and Paul C Hood III. Betty was married 62 years until Edward Hoods passed on July 17th, 2016.

Betty retired from Wake County Public Schools after dedicated years of service in 1991. She was a hard worker that touched the lives of many children over the years of her tenure.

She loved her cats over the years, always being kind to the neighborhood strays that would visit her house. She loved watching birds on her bird feeder in her last three years at Lawndale Manor in Garner, NC. Betty was loved by all that were blessed to know her through her life.

She is survived by her sons; Edwards Jr and Paul C Hood, her grandchildren, as well as nephews and nieces.

Her family will receive friends on Sunday, June 21st, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC. A memorial service will be held after, in the Bryan-Lee chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations be made to SPCA of Wake County, in memory of Betty's love for animals.
