Faye Tew

Alice Faye Mercer Tew, better known as Faye, 84, of Garner, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on October 25, 2025, surrounded by her devoted sons. Born on August 22, 1941, to the late Thomas Byard Mercer and Iva Worrell, in Wilson, NC. After graduating from Rock Ridge High School, Faye relocated to Raleigh, where she honed her skills at Troutman's Beauty School for Cosmetology. While working at Dorothy Dix Hospital, she met James, the love of her life, to whom she was married for 50 years. Faye dedicated much of her life to nurturing others, serving as a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and caregiver until her retirement. A devoted member of Garner Advent Christian Church for many years, she later joined the Pittsboro Christian Village community. Faye found joy in cultivating vibrant flower gardens, delighting in the songs and colors of the birds she fed, and, above all, sharing her deep faith in Jesus Christ with those around her.

In addition to her parents, Faye is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Merrill Tew; sisters, Isadore Baker, Helen Ruth Page, and Ruby Thorpe; and brothers, Bill and Roney Mercer.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas Tew and partner Amy, David Tew and wife, Donna, Chris Tew and wife, Tiffany, and Brian Tew and wife, Julie; sisters, Louise Roberts and Linda Lamm; beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Hunter, Gavin, Grayson, Matthew, Ethan, and Austin Tew; and cherished great-grandchildren, Braylon and Jude Tew.

A period of visitation will be held on Thursday, October 30th, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home (1200 Benson Road, Garner, North Carolina 27529). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 31st, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church (7970 Raleigh Rd, Benson, NC 27504) with the committal service to follow at Robert's Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church (725 Roberts Grove Rd, Dunn, NC 28334).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your preferred hospice organization for the blessed work they do for the families they serve.
