Vernon Carr Medlin

Raleigh –Vernon Carr Medlin, 97, of Raleigh died Sunday, January 29, 2017, at Morningside of Raleigh. V.C. was a native of Johnston County but resided in Raleigh for most of his life. From 1940 until 1962, he worked as the supervisor of inventory and the routing of oil trucks with Gulf Oil Company. V.C. later worked for Meredith College as the assistant supervisor of security for over 20 years. He was a longtime member of Hayes Barton Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Edith Medlin of Raleigh. A graveside service will be held Friday, February 3, 2017, 11:00 AM at Raleigh Memorial Park, Rev. Dr. David Hailey officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hayes Barton Baptist Church, 1800 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC 27608.
