RALEIGH - Thomas A. Tom Stephenson, 70, died Tuesday at Rex Healthcare. Born in Harnett County, he was the son of the late LeVander and Lottie Adams Stephenson. Tom grew up on a farm, graduated from Angier High School in 1961, and was a graduate of Campbell College. He designed commercial sprinkler systems and was a courier with Wachovia Bank while attending college. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Midway Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Hwy. 70, Clayton. Survivors include his wife Judy M. Stephenson; daughter, April Wesenberg (Dan) of Zionsville, IN; sisters, Sue Stephenson of Fuquay-Varina and Pat S. Vaughn of Angier; grandson, Daniel Thomas Wesenberg. Tom was loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and his special aunt, Melba A. Stephenson of Fuquay-Varina; Judys four brothers, Ronnie (Janet), Phil (Lee Anne), Marty and Larry (Wanda) have been especially good friends to Tom, enjoying his sense of wit and humor. One of the joys in Toms life was his grandson, Daniel Wesenberg. He enjoyed telling everyone about Daniels academic achievements. Another joy in Toms life was his beloved Sheltie, Chase. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Stephenson. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00-1:30 pm Thursday prior to the service.
