Rose Clifton Young

Raleigh- Rose Marie Clifton Young, 84, died Saturday at her home after a lengthy illness. A native of Johnston Co., she was the daughter of the late Oker and Nellie Johnson Clifton. She grew up in the McGee’s Crossroads area and attended Cleveland High School. Rose married Bonny Winston Young of Wake Co. and worked at Dorothea Dix Hospital as an administrative assistant of the Engineering Office for over 30 years. Rose and Bonny enjoyed decades of service with the South Raleigh Civitan Club, holding numerous offices and serving in various capacities in the Civitan organization. She was also an active member of the American Business Women’s Association during her career. Surviving: husband of 65 years, Bonny Young; daughter, Regina Alexander and her husband, Allan; sisters, Neta Jones of Clayton and Hilda Stuart of Garner; brother, Glenn Clifton and wife, Carol of Benson; grandchildren, Viorel Tapu and wife, Gina, Irina Burlacu and husband, Bogdan, Elena Alexander and husband, Al Alvarez, Benone Alexander and Dennis Alexander and great-grandchildren: Melanie, Derek, Alexandra, Aiden and Addison., She was predeceased by her son, Dennis Oker Young. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at the Garner Advent Christian Church; Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1:00 – 2:00 prior to the service.
