RALEIGH - The Reverend Clarence Millard Crumpler, age 96, of Raleigh, passed away Tuesday. A native of Cumberland County, he was the son of the late Clarence Austin and Mattie McLaurin Crumpler. He spent his childhood on Meadowbrook Dairy Farm in Eastover community of Fayetteville with his 8 brothers and sisters and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Rev. Crumpler faithfully pastored for 54 years in churches in North Carolina and Maryland. (Central Bapt. Church in Wendell, Highland Bapt. Church & Creedmoor Rd. Bapt. Church in Raleigh, Rhodhiss Bapt. Church in Rhodhiss, Mars Hill Bapt. Church in Baltimore, MD, New Hope Bapt. Church in Whiteville, and Olive Chapel Bapt. Church in Apex, NC) He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Naomi Stokes Crumpler, and his 2 sons, the Rev. David Richard Crumpler and his wife Ruth Ellen Crumpler, and Mark Stephen Crumpler and his wife Beverly Jackson Crumpler, 4 grandchildren, Marshall Alexander Crumpler, John Stephen Crumpler, Mark Aaron Samosky, and John Stuart Samosky, and 3 great-grand-children, Jackson Parker Samosky, Benjamin Roland Samosky, and Alora Nicole Samosky. The funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday at Highland Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Highland Bapt.
