Margaret Allen Taylor, 78, returned to her heavenly father on October 29, 2017 at home. Margaret was born to the late Tommie and Bettie Allen, in Four Oaks, NC on September 3, 1939. She graduated from Highsmith Hospital Nursing School in 1960 with a degree in nursing. She worked with Dr. Poole and Winslow from 1962 to 1970 in Raleigh. From 1971 until his retirement, Margaret worked with Dr. Byrum as a nurse in Raleigh. In October of 1989 she started working at North Carolina Division of Health and Human Services’ Medical Division until her retirement in July 1 of 2006. Margaret was blessed with a large and loving family. She married John Preston Taylor, of Fayetteville, NC on August 25, 1961. She loved gardening, watching birds, the beach and loved and cared for everyone. Although they bore no children, they shared many children through close friends and family members over the years. Margaret was a nurse by occupation and heart and was always there to support anyone in need whether physically or emotionally. Margaret and John loved to travel and took a voyage on many cruises around the United States and the Caribbean Islands. Margaret was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church of Garner, NC. Margaret was preceded in death by her siblings, Bettie Pearl Keen, Dorothy Stewart, Lois Stanley, and Tommie Allen Junior. She is survived by her husband, John; her sister Jackie McLamb (Linwood) of Greeneville, TN; her niece Betty Graybill (Pete) of Four Oaks, NC; her great-nephew Taylor Bloyer (Kyla) of Garner, NC; sister-in laws, Floy Allen, Four Oaks, NC and Mary Dail (Bobby) of Fayetteville, NC and a host of many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as her beloved great-grand dog Phoenix. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at St. Andrews United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens, Smithfield, NC. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM on Wednesday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Lois Stanley Nursing Scholarship at Johnston Community College 245 College Road, Smithfield, NC 27577.
