August 23, 1954 - December 9, 2011 Known for her smile, compassion and appreciation of simple beauty, Judith Abbott Goodman, 57, passed away peacefully in her sleep early the morning of Friday, December 9, 2011 in Raleigh, NC. She was born to Vernon and Shirley Abbott on August 23, 1954 in Martinsville, VA. She married Steven D. Goodman on May 9, 1976, and gave birth to their two sons David J. Goodman, 32, and Michael L. Raimer-Goodman, 30. David married Amanda Johnson Goodman, also of Raleigh, and became a father to Brianna Ruby Goodman on January 26, 2011. David, Amanda and Brianna currently live outside of Minneapolis, MN. Michael married Lauren Allison Raimer-Goodman, of Galveston, TX, and became a father to Lilly Grace Goodman on January 21, 2011. Michael, Lauren and Lilly currently live in Houston, TX. Judith is survived by: her brother, Jim Abbott, his wife Diane Housam Abbott and their two children Angel and James; her sister, Kim Warren, her husband Don Warren and their two children Justice and Kaitlyn; mother-in-law Edith Goodman of Flat Rock, NC; brother-in-law Darryl Goodman, his wife Kerry and three daughters Courtenay, Chelsea and Corey; brother-in-law Dallas Goodman, his wife Tammy and son Randy; her parents, husband, sons, daughters-in-law and grand-children. Judith accepted Christ as Savior when she was a child, and has been a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church since moving to Raleigh over 40 years ago. She attended Broughton High School and worked for over 20 years at North Carolina State University. The visitation will be at Bryan Lee Funeral Home, Sunday, December 11 from 2-4pm. The funeral service will be held at Forest Hills Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC at 2:30pm on Monday, December 12, followed by a Graveside Service at Raleigh Memorial Park at 3:45pm. Flowers are appreciated, and memorial donations in her honor can be given to the Alzheimers Association through either an online donation at www.alz.org or sent to P.O. Box 96011; Washington, DC 20090-6011. The family offers a special thank you to the wonderfully kind staff at Mayview and at Morningside, both in Raleigh, where Judith was treated with care and dignity.
