Jerry Owen Wood

RALEIGH – Jerry Owen Wood, 73, died Wednesday at his home. A native of Wake County, he was the son of the late Jesse Owen Wood and Marie Guins Wood. In 1962, he began his career with CP&L (now Duke Progress Energy) leaving in 1988, after 26 years of service. For the next 23 years, he was self employed as a sales representative with Utility Products Service Company,  retiring in 2011. A graveside service will be held Saturday, 2:00 pm at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy “Dot” Williams Wood; his daughter, Chris Kieft and husband, Shawn of Garner;  his son, Mark Wood, also of Garner;  his five grandsons, Jonathan, Austin and Jared Wood and Saylon and Spencer Kieft.; his brother, Ricky Wood of Fuquay-Varina.
