James Richard Thompson

FUQUAY-VARINA– James Richard Thompson, 77, passed away Saturday. A native of Harnett County, he was the son of the late James B. Thompson and Lozzie Gregory Thompson. James is survived by his wife of 58 years, Peggy Clark Thompson; daughter, Anita Davis and husband, Mark of Fuquay-Varina; son, Chad Thompson and wife, Theresa of Smithfield; sister, Diane Williford of Willow Spring; brother, Garland Thompson and wife, Susan of Angier; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Thompson. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at Wake Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hilltop Church, 10212 Fayetteville Rd. Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526, building fund.
