Howard Ray Stephens

FUQUAY-VARINA – Howard Ray Stephens, 80, formerly of Raleigh, N.C. went to heaven to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 10, 2019. Howard faithfully served his country and retired from the United States Army with 23 years of military service, including his service in the Vietnam War. Howard enjoyed fishing, particularly with his sons and grand-children. He also enjoyed farming, gardening, and working with wood in his shop. His greatest interest was his commitment to Jesus and his church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Agnes Woodall Stephens; his brother, Henry Stephens; and his sister, Mary Belle Branch. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Faye Stephens; his son Tony (wife Michelle); his son Chris (wife Anne), and his son Michael (wife Amy.) Howard had nine grand-children: Hannah (husband Michael), Amanda, Lyndsey, Connor, Sierra, Caleb, Brandon, Cassidy, and Elizabeth: two great grand-children Addisyn and Carson; and his only sister, Ellen S. Austin. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 6:00 PM at Garner Church of God. Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 6:00 PM, prior to the service. Burial will be Monday, January 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh accompanied by full military honors.
