George Russell Carter

RALEIGH- George Russell Carter, 85, died Monday at his home.  A native of Wake County, he served his country as a member of the US Army and was the owner of Carter’s Grocery.  Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Holland United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Survivors include his son, George Randal “Randy” Carter; granddaughter, Randal Renee and grandson, Austin Metts Carter.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Dare Bowling Carter; sons, Ronald Allen Carter and Brian Russell Carter; brothers, Lanier, Thomas, Alfred and Joseph Carter.   The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, c/o Jerry Hart, 9200 Sauls Road, Raleigh, NC 27603.
