GARNER – Geneva DuRant Edgerton Howell, passed away Friday at home surrounded by her friends and family. Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Enoch Ralph Edgerton and Fannie Grantham Edgerton. Geneva was a faithful woman, a loving wife, a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. She was a photographer, a leader, a shining light, and she will be remembered. A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday at Aversboro Road Baptist Church. Inurnment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday at the church and again from 12:00 – 1:00 pm prior to the service. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Henry Howell; daughter, Hope Howell Graney and husband, Patrick of Raleigh; sons, Neal Howell and wife, Thea of Durham and David Howell and wife, Jo of Wilmington; brothers, Enoch H. Edgerton and wife, Cloie of Burleson, TX and James B. Edgerton and wife, Marilyn of Garner; grandchildren, Logan and Morgan Graney and Alanna Howell, July and Violet Howell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Eugene Edgerton. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to one of the following: Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607; Aversboro Road Baptist Church, 1600 Aversboro Road, Garner, NC 27529 or The Tisch Brain Tumor Center, Duke University Medical Center, DUMC 3624, Durham, NC 27710.
