Evelyn Cheek Whitaker

Evelyn Cheek Whitaker, 90, passed away May 10, 2014 after several months of declining health. Evelyn was born in Raleigh and graduated from Hugh Morrison High School. She worked as town clerk with the Town of Garner before going to work and retiring from the Wake County Court System. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Cynthia A. Whitaker of Garner; brother Irving M. Cheek, Jr. and wife Helene of Charlotte and three nieces and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Penny Whitaker and son, Bruce Whitaker; parents, Irving M. Cheek and Beona George Cheek and sister, Barbara C. Strickland. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday May 13, 2014 at Montlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Garner United Methodist Church 201 Methodist Dr. Garner, NC 27529.
