Raleigh-Donnie Gene Dorman passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Thursday, December 18, 2014. He was born November 14, 1939, in Wake County, to the late Zack Nassie Dorman and Katie Stephenson Dorman. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jo Carol Penny Dorman; two sons, Stewart Carson “Sonny” Dorman and Christopher Gene “Chris” Dorman and fiancé Becky Shinault; one grandson, Tyler Gage Black, all of Garner, NC; his brother Lonnie C. Dorman and wife, Sally; and nieces and nephews. Donnie was predeceased by his sister, Leona Dorman Alphin. Donnie graduated from Campbell University and served in the US Army. He worked in the insurance profession for over 50 years, owning and operating Integrity Insurance Co. on South Saunders St. in Raleigh . In semi-retirement he enjoyed being a substitute teacher for Garner Magnet High School. He also enjoyed being active in his church and had many friends there. Donnie was well loved, and his enthusiasm and twinkle in his eye will be sorely missed. A celebration of Donnie’s life will be held Monday, December 22, at 11:00 a.m. at Garner Advent Christian Church, 1120 Vandora Springs Rd., Garner, preceded by visitation at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, Donnie requested that contributions be made to the “van fund” at Garner Advent Christian Church, P.O. Box 381, Garner, NC 27529.
