Angier – Blanche Barbour Matthews, 93, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family at her side. A native of Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Randall Eldridge Barbour and Cora Tart Barbour. Blanche was a faithful member of Kennebec Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 12th at 1:00 PM at Kennebec Baptist Church Cemetery, Angier. Blanche will lie in state on Saturday, September 11th from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier, for anyone that would like to pay their respects and sign the register. The family will not be present at this time of viewing. Blanche is survived by her sons, Jimmy H. Matthews and wife, Ann, Randel A. Matthews and Barry E. Matthews and wife, Sherrie, all of Angier; sister, Jean Turnage of Erwin; grandchildren, Kimberly Matthews Rice (Jonathan) of Angier, Bridgett Goldner (Erin) of Charlotte, and Casey Reed (Chris) of Charlotte; great grandchildren, Keylie and Koen Hendges of Angier, Diesel Rice of Angier, and Rylee Reed of Charlotte. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Matthews; brothers, Bill, Paul, Curtis and Doyle Barbour; sisters, Geraldine Stevens, Valeria Matthews, Winaford Hare, and Justine Morris. In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made to the Building Fund at Kennebec Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1690, Angier, North Carolina 27501.
