Arthur C. Beaman

Arthur Clayton Beaman, 87, died Monday. Born in Wilson, NC, he was the son of the late Walter and Inez Robinson Beaman. He was a graduate of Walstonburg High School and attended UNC Chapel Hill. Mr. Beaman served in the US Navy (SeaBees) and retired after 30 years of service as an accountant/auditor with the State of North Carolina.  Arthur was a long time member of Garner United Methodist Church and a member of the Men’s Bible Class. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Garner United Methodist Church.  A reception for friends and family will follow the service.  A private burial will take place at a later time. He enjoyed spending time with his family and spent countless hours watching his granddaughters play softball and his grandson participate in marching band.  Arthur loved golf and spent many happy days playing with his friends:  J. C. O’Neal, Carl Price, Hop Hopkins and Warner Powell.  He also loved eating at Bojangle’s, especially with Bill Collins, Kermit Heintzelman, Fritz Sterling and Larry Reynolds. Surviving: His wife of 66 years, Grace Gardner Beaman; daughter, Laura Beaman, son, Keith M. Beaman (Sara); Grandchildren, Jessica and Beth Anne Kleekamp and Jennifer and Brian Beaman; sister, Patricia B. Bissette of Bailey and beloved dog, Riley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gerry Beaman.
