September 12, 1934 - September 12, 2012Raleigh - Airlee Barbour Currin of Raleigh died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Johnston County to the late Mary King Barbour and William Robert Barbour. She was the Director of Spring Hill School at Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh for 25 years. She was a dedicated member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 30 years.She is survived by her husband Allen Currin and his 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren; son, Greg Wilkerson; married daughter Kim and husband Dave Buck, her children Travis and Staci and his children Josh and Ally; two brothers Linwood Barbour, Sr. and wife Lillian, and Kenneth Barbour, Sr. and wife Martha; and by devoted nieces and nephews. Two brothers Ray Barbour and Gerald Barbour, and sister Hilda Barbour Frye preceded her in death. Airlee especially loved and took great joy in being an aunt and grandma.Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2100 Noble Rd. The family will receive friends in the church Fellowship Hall one hour prior to the service.
