  1. Stuart Thomas

Glenn was an extremely dedicated youth development volunteer, who mentored countless youth (and other adults) through his many years as a scout leader. He had a wealth of knowledge, outdoor skills, and wisdom that he gave freely along with his time and talent. He will be missed by many, but we rejoice over everything that he shared of himself with so many of us.

May he rest in peace alongside our heavenly creator.

  2. Frank Castillo

Glenn was the consummate Scouter, knowledgeable in Native American art craft, proficient in knot tying, competent in outdoor skills….and always willing to share these with whoever was willing to learn. He was a regular participant in Roundtable and University of Scouting. He will be missed by many, as he offered so much to others. I hope he is at peace!

  3. Shay Blakemore

Glen was my brother in Scouting. Always with a smile on his face and the best interest of our youth in his heart. We will miss him so very much. I regret that I will not be able to be with you at the service.

  4. Bret Batchelder

Glenn inspired me with his dedication and commitment to youth in our area through Scouting, his outdoor skills and talents, and his appreciation for wilderness and wildlife. I always appreciated Glenn’s welcoming smile and patience with me, a far less experienced Scout leader. He will be greatly missed.

  5. Chris Cardozo

I met Glenn as the new scout professional, eyes wide and not to sure of what to do. He was an understanding person. I got to watch him guide and help so so many who were part of Scouting. May his family hold close to their hearts the impact he made on so many people.

  6. James V. Asbill

I met Glenn when I got involved in the OA. He was very involved with the OA and gave me lots of things to think about as being an adviser for our OA youth. He has done many things for the Lodge and especially for the Vigil members. After Vigil selections were done he would ask me how many were selected. He never ask if a certain person was selected. Glenn made the beaded wrist bands for the new Vigil members with the year that they became a Vigil. Glenn will be greatly missed by many.

In that place where memories reside, a sweet and warm light glows. That’s where Glenn resides in me! His smile, his laugh, his words echo in my head as I recall the times we spent together in our younger years. Susan, Tom, and Dan, your brother made a difference in my life and I cherish those memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. May God grant you comfort in this time grief.

  11. Rev. John Lancaster

I always enjoyed camping with Glenn. His love of the outdoors and for encouraging young people to strive for great things is worthy of emulation. He had a particular knack for finding a few moments to slip down the trail, fishing pole peeking slyly from the flap of his backpack, for a little quiet fishing time. I will miss him. Gone home, brother. See you there.

  12. Beverly O'Briant Hall

  13. Tom (Tommy) Autry

Reading through this guestbook reminds me of your special presence and legacy in our lives. I remember you for your “welcoming smile.” Having also participated in Scouting, I can envision you in the outdoors and applaud you for your service to others. Well done, Glenn!

  14. Billie Jeanne Satterwhite

Glenn was a good friend with a twinkle in his eye and sly chuckle. I remember the joy he found in being at the beach casting out his minnow net and just enjoying the outdoors. He liked helping others in any way he could. He was talented in so many ways. Rest easy Glenn.

  15. Ken and Rose Cromartie

Parler Family, We knew Glenn and Louann from his days at NC State. Rest In Peace.

  16. Jess Tart

Mr. Parler was one of the best advisers I was fortunate enough to have during my time in the Order of the Arrow. His knowledge base was invaluable in helping our chapter run smoothly. He was a great man and will truly be missed.

  17. Troop 300

We never close a meeting without vespers.

Softly falls the light of day,
    As our campfire fades away.
    Silently, each Scout should ask
Have I done my daily task?
Have I kept my honor bright?
    Can I guiltless sleep tonight?
Oh, have I done and have I dared
    Everything to be prepared?

May Glenn Parler, the greatest scoutmaster of all scoutmasters be with us all until we meet again.
