GARNER– Danny Avery Batten, 72, passed away on Friday at Duke University Medical Center in Durham. A native of Johnston county, he was the son of the late Avery and Hilda Braswell Batten. Along with his parents, Danny was predeceased by a new born daughter.
The family will hold a private memorial service at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm, Friday, November 8th at Bryan Lee Funeral Home in Garner.

From 1989-91 he served as President of the North Carolina Masonry Contractors Association before transitioning into a career of sales and technical support in concrete manufacturing. That change also allowed him to share his passion for cooking on job sites and events across the region. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Grissom Batten; daughter, Kelli Batten Adcock and husband, Craig of Garner; son, Collin Batten and wife, Alli of New York; sisters, Betty Pittman and husband, Mark of Pine Level, Mahilda Barbee and husband, Mike of Harkers Island; brother, Steve Batten and wife, Cathy of Selma; grandchildren, Blake Adcock, Rhylee Adcock and Elliott Batten; mother and father in-law Marshall and Shirley Grissom.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Duke University Hospital for their care and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Danny’s memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at donate.lls.org or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org

Beverly and children,
We so loved Danny. He was a great neighbor and a greater friend. He had a heart of service to others and it was evident in everything he did for us here at the coast. He had a love for all of his family, especially his grand babies. I know he is heaven enjoying the place reserved for one who lived an abundant life and demonstrated his love for Christ. We are praying blessings of comfort and peace for you all.

Loved seeing Danny at all the masonry meetings
And golf outings. His chicken and “ fixins “ were always the best! Danny had a great sense of humor, dry wit, and loved to sarcastically poke fun on anyone around on a golf trip! I will miss Danny! The masonry community will miss Danny. God speed , Danny. May God bless the family and bring you comfort. Ken Holland, Triangle Brick Company
