After returning from the funeral I was thinking of the good times we had together. The Senior Saints went to the beach once. We stayed in a mobile home and had to share beds. Verlene and I shared a bed. I told her I woke up early and she said she did too. Next morning I woke up around 4:00 and Verlene was very still. I thought she was still asleep. I lay as still as I could for a long time. Finally I just had to move. The minute I moved she said “are you awake”. She had been awake and did not want to move for fear of waking me. So there we were both not wanting to disturb the other one.

  15. Crystal

Mrs. Mary… My grandma always had one eye open and one eye shut lol…. She pretended she was sleeping but she knew everything we did lol… I miss her so much! She was my best friend.
