Ruby O’Quinn Koehler, 94, died at her residence on Friday, January 1, 2021. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother who was full of spunk and laughter and adored her daughter, Kittie, and grandson, Evan, who were the light of her life. Her graciousness was constantly exhibited by always putting others first. She enjoyed singing and always carried a song in her heart. She was the epitome of a true southern belle. A large part of her life was spent taking care of older family members.
She and her husband, Charles, were church planters of Berean Bible Church in New Orleans, LA where they lived for 30 years. There they were responsible for leading many to Christ. She taught Sunday school and was active in Child Evangelism Fellowship, hosting Good News Club in her home.
A founding member of Christ Baptist Church in Raleigh, she was a prayer warrior and a faithful servant of Christ
Surviving are her daughter, Kittie Rakovan of Raleigh; grandson, Evan Rakovan (Meredith) of Raleigh; brothers, Jimmy D. O’Quinn of Madison, MS and Edgar Byron O’Quinn of Huntsville, AL and many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles, brother, John Louis O’Quinn and sister, Louise Marchetti.
The family wishes to thank Cara and Dwan, her Transitions LifeCare nurses, along with Diana, Viola and Kim of Stay at Home Senior Care for their love and dedication.
