GARNER – Helen Meeks Morris, 89, of Garner, NC passed away February 11, 2019. Helen was born on May 23, 1929 to the late William Ernest and Velma Mills Meeks. She married Benjamin H. Morris on September 13, 1951.
Helen lived a long and blessed life. She saw each day as a gift from God, and lived it to the absolute fullest. The most important thing to her was the people that her life touched. The walls of her home attest to a life full of love and memories. In fact, you would be hard pressed to find much wall space at all because of the countless pictures of family and friends that cover every inch. Over her years, she was employed by Greenbrier Apartments and K-mart, where she was known for a cheery smile and a compassionate desire to help people anyway that she could. Her life was full with family, friends and church. She was a faithful founding member of the Capitol Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was delighted to serve her church family. She was the first elected woman to be on the church board and also served in the Women’s Ministry. In her retirement, she has made many new friends through organizing, calling out, and playing bingo at McDonald’s and Chick-fil-a in Garner. She continued her spirit of giving by also volunteering at the Garner Senior Center as well as spending countless hours helping at the Garner Area Ministries. Her legacy in loving and giving lives on in all that her life
touched.

My condolences to all the family. Ms. Morris was a wonderful lady. I remember when Hurricane Fran came and she offered my husband (at the time) and I to come over and take a shower. We didn’t have water for two or so weeks. She also invited us to dinner. She was a sweet and caring lady, was there ready to help. RIP Ms. Morris. You will be missed.
