Barbara Curtis passed away at home on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 after a year-long battle with cancer. She was born in Johnston County to Herbert and Myrtie Crabtree. Barbara graduated from N. C. State University. She worked at the Medical College of Georgia and N. C. State Veterinary School in the medical labs; and at York Simpson Underwood as a realtor. Barbara enjoyed her gardening, knitting, Siamese cats, Emerald Isle, Blowing Rock and traveling. She lived abroad in Chile and South Africa where she truly enjoyed the experience.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Steve Curtis of Raleigh, daughter Jessica Grantham of Raleigh and grandchildren Kenny Jeffries, Hope Marr and Paige Stafford.
A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh at 2:00, Saturday, April 14, 2018.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Duke Homecare & Hospice, Office of Development, Tribute Giving, 4321 Medical Park Drive, STE 101, Durham, NC 27704. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Duke Hospice during her illness.
