Bob Daubenspeck

October 9, 1939 ~ June 6, 2019

Bob Daubenspeck was born October 9, 1939 and raised in Schuylkill Haven, PA. As a young man, he enlisted in the Army, serving as a military police officer for over 23 years, which included a year of being deployed to Vietnam. His military career led him to many places worldwide.

Bob’s gift was that of service, which he gave fully, fairly, and loyally. Following retirement, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Reins from Above, and Horse and Buddy. A strong man of God, Bob was led to be active in his church where he held many positions throughout the years. He joined the Gideons and was given even more opportunities to be a disciple of Christ, spreading the gospel and participating in mission trips to Africa and Mexico.

Bob loved his family. He met a cute, little, French girl, Renee, while stationed in France, married her and built a life and love with her that would last 58 years strong. They had 4 children who were shown and taught the values of what being a family meant; hard work, fairness, and respect. Bob was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and was so proud of them all.

Bob had a very tender spot in his heart for all the dogs his family had over the years. Gracie was his last sidekick, and all 60 pounds of her spent countless hours in his lap. How he loved Gracie, and it was clear that love was given right back to him.

To know Bob was to know a man who was quiet, conservative and who would stand his ground in matters he felt strongly about. He had the ability to leave people questioning if he was joking or if he was being serious about a comment he made. He truly enjoyed watching reactions. It was joked that it took 2 women to control Bob-his wife, Renee and Martha, his Friday night, high school football game date. They were his equal in verbal sparring and, if he had to be honest, Bob would have to say he loved every second of it. This love was shown by the rolling of his eyes on the rare occasion he was at a loss for words as a comeback.

To know Bob was to also know he loved NC State sports, especially football. Given the opportunity, this normally quiet man would carry on lengthy conversations with anyone who shared the love of his team. His family formed a Fantasy Football league which he took to heart. His competitive streak came through, and he spared no one in his effort for victory. Oh, how he loved to win…

Bob’s interests were many, but most important to him were his love and relationship with Jesus followed by his love for his family.

Uncle Bob was kind, loyal, decent and generous. He loved God and Jesus deeply, he loved his family completely, and he loved his church and community. Often quiet like my father, his brother, he could both inspire and intimidate with just a glance, sometimes both at the same time. We love you Uncle Bob, we’re grateful for the exemplary life you lived, and will never forget you.
