Leon G. Westbrook

Leon G. Westbrook, Jr., 92, of Raleigh NC, passed away, Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Rex Hospital.


A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 4, 2017 at the Raleigh Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum,  7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC 27612.


Friends may pay respects at that time.  Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.


Leon is survived by his wife, Juanita Westbrook of Raleigh, NC, and his two sons, Kenneth Westbrook and his wife Sylvia of Wendell, NC, Joseph Westbrook and his wife Ronni of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

    I empathize in the loss of a close family member, as I share in some fond memories I have of Leon Jr. When I was a very young, small boy, our family visited with Uncle Leon and Aunt Ulla – Leon Jr. had his electric train set up. I was amazed by it. Other times as a very young man, he came to Granddaddy (Bud) Westbrook’s home place to help Aunt Maude hang wallpaper and paint. I believe Leon Jr. was the last living of the “older generation” of Eldridge Troy (Bud) and Geneva Westbrook’s grand children.

    I regret that I will be unable to attend the service, since we’ll be in the Western part of state. However, I do extend condolences to Juanita and all the family.
