RALEIGH – Gladys Howell Brown, 81, formerly of North Myrtle Beach, passed away Friday at Sunrise of Cary. A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late John Exum Howell and Rossie Hare Howell. Our wonderful mom traveled the world and enjoyed her many adventures and friends. She was active in the Pilot Club, Meals on Wheels, United Methodist Women and Trinity United Methodist Church.
Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. The family will receive friends following the service. Inurnment will be 11:00 AM Monday at Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh.
Gladys is survived by her husband of 52 years, Walter P. Brown; daughter, Karen Waller and husband, David of Raleigh; step daughter, Mary Zygula and husband, Dennis of Ormond Beach, FL; sons, Howard Brown and wife, Patti of Raleigh, William David Brown and wife, Leigh of Chapel Hill; sister Obie Wooten of Cary; grandchildren, Victoria, Travis, Evan and Hailey Brown, Caroline and Katherine Waller, Teri Sherwood and Scott Zygula; three great-grandchildren.
