| GARNER–Maxine Suitt Poole, 94, passed away peacefully Sunday. Born in Durham County, she was the daughter of the late Commie and Lora Browning Suitt. From 1931 – 1936, she worked for Liggett & Myers Tobacco Co. in Durham and in 1936, on her 21st birthday married Lonnie C. Poole, Sr., who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Poole was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and a resident of the Auburn Community for 68 years. In1980, she retired after 25 years with Ivey’s and Dillard’s in Raleigh. She was a resident of Lawndale Manor in Garner for five years where she enjoyed her friends and appreciated the loving care she received.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Lonnie C. Poole, Jr. and wife, Carol Lynn of Raleigh; grandson, Ven Poole and wife, Lisa and their children, Chelsea, Caroline and Craven and grandson, Scott Poole and wife, Zan, and their children, Scott, Jr., Ruffin and Brynnan, all of Raleigh; nieces, Amy Miller Snyder and husband, Phil of Greenville, SC, Deborah Williams Boggan of Cary and Sandra Rideoutt Harper of New Bern.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Frances Rideoutt, Mildred Miller and Janice Williams.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
