| Edward Kestler Bell, Sr. was born into the world on January 8, 1936. He died Friday, February 26, 2010 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh of heart and lung complications. Ed was from Raleigh and grew up in Cameron Park. He graduated from Broughton High School and Davidson College. As the years progressed, he worked for First Citizens Bank, co-owned Bell’s Linen Closet with his brother Victor Bell, Jr., and traded in commercial real state. Edward was a collector by nature. He was a numismatist, an antique and classic car collector, and an antique radio collector. He loved to play golf and played for teams at Broughton and Davidson and for many years at the Carolina Country Club. In his later years Edward attended Covenant Church in Raleigh and Cary Church of God. He came to profess faith in the New Testament Gospel and confessed Jesus Christ as his Savior before he passed away.
Edward is survived by his wife, Dorothy Katherine Harley Bell; his children Katherine Frazer Bell of Raleigh, Ellen Harley Bell Holland and husband William Langston Holland, Jr. of Pensacola, and their children, Laure Erin Holland, Daniel Phillip Holland, Benjamin Peter Holland, Hannah Katherine Holland, and Andrew Timothy Holland, and Edward Kestler Bell, Jr. of Cary and his son Christopher Ryan Bell.
Edward was a generous giver and a good provider. He had a quick mind and saw potential in his unique hobbies. He was dear to his friends. And his family loved him. They made known to him the love of Christ.
Visitation will be at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27604 on Monday, March 1 from 7 PM until 8:30 PM. The funeral is also at Bryan-Lee on Tuesday, March 2 at 1:30 PM.
