David Eugene Karr, 51, of Raleigh died Thursday in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Nuremburg, Germany to the late Cecil and Sigrid Karr. Being from a military family, David lived many places. His home has been in Raleigh since 1986.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Robert Karr and an infant sister.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Mary Dail Karr of Raleigh; daughter, Courtney Karr of Sanford; two step-children, Candy Jones and Corey Bunch, as well as five beautiful grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Gaberila, Mary Ann, and Frances; and sister and brother-in-law, Kay and David Nixon. David also leaves behind his beloved companions Ruff and Arizona.
David lived his life to the fullest. He loved being outside, working in the yard, camping, canoeing, biking, boating, and riding his Harley. He lived his life in the essence of the song “My Way”.
There will be a private gathering to celebrate David’s life at a later date.
