Lois Card Mangum Riddle

Lois Card Mangum Riddle, 90, of Raleigh, passed away February 9, 2010 at Rex Hospital after a battle with emphysema that had become increasingly difficult over the last few months. Lois was born in the Caraleigh Community to Will Curtman Card and Magnolia Dean Card. She grew up in the community and lived most of her life in Raleigh. She was a 32-year employee of the North Carolina Employment Security Commission, starting out as a file clerk and retiring as a unit supervisor. Lois was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Ernest Riddle; her granddaughter, Karen Conkling; her brothers, Tommy and Percy Card; and her sister, Beulah McNamara. She is survived by her son Roy Mangum and wife Phyllis of Cary; her son Steve Riddle and wife Bonnie of Lexington, NC; grandchildren Leah Hippert and husband Jason of Fuquay-Varina; Matthew Riddle and wife Rhea of Lexington; Elizabeth Riddle of Lexington; and Joseph Riddle of Lexington. In addition, she cherished six great-grandchildren and several special nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home on Wake Forest Road in Raleigh. Funeral service will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at Caraleigh Baptist Church where she was a life-long member. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to the church at 1400 Green Street, Raleigh, 27603. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses, doctors, assistants and other staff who cared for Lois.
